She was born in Roswell on the 29th of March 1985. Gerina Michelle Mendoza has been her name. Gerina Stevenson, the Mexican mother of Rita Stevenson Stevenson and Alan Stevenson Stevenson, was born in Mexico. She is Mexican as well as American. Since her early years her drive to become involved in sports was evident. Gerina started playing golf at the age of she reached the age of 15. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School. She was the winner of the New Mexico State Golf Tournament in her high school years. In addition to the sport of volleyball, she played on the state level. She attended the University of Texas in 2003. As a senior she was a winner of every tournament that was entered. During her undergrad career, she won the Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year Award and UTEP Female Athlete of the year.
